What FlowBreak does
FlowBreak slows the apps you choose after the minutes of full speed you choose. To do that, it runs a local network filter on your device (on Android, a local VPN service; on iOS, the network filtering mechanism Apple provides). All of your traffic is handled on the phone itself. It is never routed through, inspected by, or copied to any server of ours, because we do not have any.
What we collect
Nothing, unless you turn diagnostics on yourself. Specifically:
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for, so we never hold your email, name, or password.
- No advertising, and no data sold or shared. The apps contain no advertising frameworks, and we have never sold, rented or shared user data with anyone.
- No browsing data. The filter is content-blind. It slows the apps you selected without reading, logging, or storing what you look at inside them.
- No screen reading. FlowBreak deliberately does not request the Accessibility permission (Android) or any capability that could read your screen.
Optional diagnostics, on Android
The Android app includes a diagnostics component (PostHog) that is switched off by default. Unless you turn it on yourself, it is fully opted out and sends nothing at all: no events, and no crash reports.
If you do turn it on, it is deliberately narrow. It sends a short list of named events (such as “the app was opened” or “a permission was granted”) and automatic crash reports, so that faults can be fixed. It never derives your location, not even your country. It cannot send the names of apps you have chosen, anything about your usage, or anything your phone connects to. Only a fixed list of permitted fields can ever leave the device, and you can switch it back off at any time in Settings.
The iOS app contains no diagnostics component at all, and makes no network requests of its own.
What stays on your device
Your settings (which apps you slow, your minute limits, your schedules, your rooms and windows) are stored only in the app’s private storage on your phone. The apps also keep a short, self-overwriting technical log on the device so that a problem can be explained rather than guessed at. It is never transmitted. Deleting the app deletes all of it. We have no copy and no way to obtain one.
The VPN and network-filter permission
Your operating system will ask you to approve FlowBreak’s network filter, and while it is active your phone will show a VPN or filter indicator. This filter begins and ends on your device. It is a local loopback, not a connection to an external VPN provider. It exists only to slow the apps you chose, and it never sends your traffic anywhere.
Screen Time, on iOS
With your permission, the iOS app uses Apple’s Screen Time framework to know when an app you chose has passed the limit you set. Those figures are read and displayed inside a separate process that Apple controls, which is permitted to show them to you but not to store them, send them, or hand them back to FlowBreak.
Purchases
FlowBreak Pro is sold through Google Play and the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by those stores under their own privacy policies. We receive no card details and no billing identity, only the store’s anonymous confirmation that Pro is unlocked.
Children
FlowBreak is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Rights to access, correct or delete personal data assume there is some to act on. Because FlowBreak holds none about you, there is nothing for us to return or erase. Deleting the app removes everything, immediately and completely. If you have turned Android diagnostics on and want the anonymous events removed, write to us and we will have them deleted.
Changes to this policy
If FlowBreak ever changes what it collects, this page will be updated first, with a new effective date above, before any such version ships.
